The Worship Task Group decided we would do something a bit different for Christmas 2003. Instead of putting on their usual Nativity Play the children of the Sunday Gang presented 'Christmas Round the World' during the service on 14th December, and the adults would present the Nativity Play on 21st December. This was a first for the congregation and an appeal was made for volunteers to be involved - as actors, makers of props, costumes, sound effects and scene setters.

The vast majority of the 20 actors had no previous experience, but worked very hard to learn their scripts and get into their parts, trying to make the whole experience an act of worship rather than a 'performance'. It has been commented that one of the most moving parts of the play was when representatives of the congregation came forward to lay their offerings at the manger - linking the church today to the ongoing Christmas story from so long ago.

The locations were set by use of the back projection screen showing relevant images operated by the minister on his 'laptop', and the scenes were linked by congregational carol singing.
